Sutton transfers to FAU

It did not take long for Florida Atlantic head coach Rex Walters to nab his first big time recruit. Having spent one year at Florida, Jimmie Sutton, the 6-foot-10, 245-pound power forward has decided to leave the Gators. With a number of options to consider, Sutton, the three-star prospect, ultimately decided to sign a Letter-of-Intent with Florida Atlantic.
"Coach Rex Walters called and said that Jimmie has signed to play at Florida Atlantic," said North Broward Prep head coach Daniel Haney. "I just returned home from Switzerland, so I have not talked to Jimmie yet, but he did talk to one of our assistant coaches. Florida Atlantic is definitely a great fit for Jimmie.

"This is a great get for Coach Walters and his program," he added. He has done an outstanding job recruiting, especially in the state of Florida. Coach Walters is ecstatic to have Jimmie in his program. He is a very powerful player that has a massive body. Jimmie is chiseled and is cut very well."
Sutton, the No. 143 ranked player in the class of 2005, didn't see much playing time last year at Florida. While he was with the Gators during their National Championship run, the three-star prospect was not much of a factor.
A serious injury prevented Sutton from establishing himself as a player in Florida's rotation. Now that his decision to attend FAU is complete, Sutton is looking forward to the future.
"It was about a year ago that Jimmie torn his ACL at school," said Haney. "He was on the bench all last year at Florida. He was with the team when they made it all the way to the National Championship, but he didn't play.
"I really don't know why Jimmie decided to leave Florida," he added. "I have not talked with Jimmie or Coach Billy Donovan. Jimmie and I have been leaving messages for each other, but we haven't actually talked yet."
