Super Soph Explodes In Houston

Lanier High School star Monta Ellis scored 26 points in an opening round win at the 9th Annual Houston Kingwood Classic and is quickly establishing himself as one of the top overall prospects for the class of 2005.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Jackson, Mississippi native possess great court presence and is an advanced passer and ball handler. Ellis is also really good in transition and is a solid defender.

Ellis said his early lists of favorites include Alabama, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Syracuse and UConn (order as mentioned).
“I want to stay close to home if possible,” Ellis said. “I’m not going to rush the recruiting process. It is going to be a while before I decide and give a commitment.”
Ellis is a candidate for consideration as the top point guard prospect for the class of 2005.
