Alabama fills needs
For much of the summer, there was a lot of talk that Abdul-Malik Abu and Jared Terrell could end up at the same program.
Longtime teammates on the Boston based Expressions Elite summer team, the duo each cut their school lists to four finalists on Wednesday night. And if a package is going to happen, then Ed Cooley and the Providence Friars are the only program who can get it done with the four-star duo.
Coincidentally, the Friars will be hosting both Abu -- a 6-foot-8 power forward who ranks No. 50 nationally -- and Terrell -- a 6-foot-3 shooting guard who ranks No. 62 -- on Saturday when they take unofficial visits to campus.
Of course, every year rumored package deals fall apart and it's important to look at each of their other finalists.
A power broker in the paint, Abu is also considering Florida, N.C. State and Connecticut according to Expressions coach Tyron Boswell.
As for Terrell, the power wing who has worked to improve his jump shooting, Boswell says that his other finalists are Rhode Island, Oklahoma State and Cincinnati.
Outside of this weekend's Providence visit, neither Abu or Terrell has scheduled any other visits. Both have plans to visit their other three finalists before making a decision and it is likely that both will have a decision out of the way before September ends.
