Steve Scoggin Is An Offensive Minded Guard

Steve Scoggin, and offensive minded 6-0, 175 pound freshman guard from Irvine Valley College in Irvine, Calif., is another Division I transfer in the Lasers program this year.
In fact, he and IVC teammate Derrick Mansell both attended perennial prep power Mater Dei H.S. in Southern California a few years ago prior to signing with their respective Division I schools.

Scoggin red-shirted a year at UNLV, and while he might have signed a bit over his head out of high school, he is hoping for more colleges to get involved with him this winter.
Right now, Albany (NY) has shown the most interest in Scoggin according to IVC Head Coach Jerry Hernandez. Should he leave IVC after this year, Scoggin would have three years to play on the Division I level.
In the opening round of play at the Riverside C.C. Holiday Basketball Tournament, Scoggin poured in 23 points. And that contest typified what has some Division I coaches a little hesitant to recruit Scoggin -- that he is essentially a two guard in a point guard's body.
Blessed with a cocky demeanor and good athleticism, Scoggin is a dangerous catch and shoot three point specialist who also showed that he can knock down short jumpers off the dribble.
While his shot selection is not always crisp, Scoggin often makes defenders pay when they give him daylight. He's one of those guys you always have to account for on defense.
JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will keep you posted on Scoggin throughout the winter and into the spring, so stay tuned.
