Stephens hearing from southern schools
The No. 138 ranked player in the class of 2006 Andre Stephens has a slew of southern schools recruiting him. One SEC school has an offer on the table for the 6-foot-8, 220-pound power forward from Heidleberg (Miss.) High School.
"I'm still very open, but I am hearing from Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State and Georgia," said Stephens. "As of now, Mississippi State is the only one to offer."

Stephens has not yet taken any visits, and as expected, they will occur once school begins in the fall.
"I plan to start taking visits when school starts and hopefully have a decisions by the early signing date," he said. "I'm looking for a good campus environment, a place where I feel comfortable and can enjoy my college experience."
Stephens averaged 19 points and 15 rebounds per game during his junior season. This summer he is running with the Jackson Panthers while also working hard on developing his game.
"I'm working hard on my game this summer and trying to improve in all areas," he said. "I'm giving special attention to my post game and working hard on my ball handling."
