Starting Five: Five-star Ayo Dosunmu down to a pair

Five-star point guard Ayo Dosunmu is down to a pair with his final visit on the horizon. There's some four-star indecision, Rhode Island has a big weekend and more in Eric Bossi's Starting Five.

1. DOSUNMU CUTS IT TO A PAIR

Five-star point guard Ayo Dosunmu announced on Sunday that he's down to a final two of Illinois and Wake Forest.

A physical, high-scoring point guard with tremendous size, Dosunmu visited Wake a week ago and will see the home-state Illini this weekend. The expectation is that he will have a decision soon after.

Wake had been a sleeper in Dosunmu's recruitment but how Danny Manning has used Bryant Crawford and Wake's offense are appealing to Dosunmu. Going out of state for a five-star prospect would be a signature get for Wake.

For Illinois and new coach Brad Underwood, Dosunmu has been a top priority from day one on the job. His official this weekend will go a long way toward his final decision and the Illini have a chance to make a splash by landing him.

For now, we'll give the Illini the slight edge.

2. FOUR-STAR INDECISION FOR LANDERS NOLLEY

The recruiting saga of four-star Landers Nolley continued over the weekend. The big wing scorer's recruitment has featured dramatic twists and turns for the last six months and it took another turn over the weekend.

On Friday, Nolley cut his list down to Virginia Tech and Georgia while finishing up his official visit to Georgia. Saturday night, he committed to the Bulldogs. By Sunday afternoon, though, Nolley reversed field and announced that he was backing off his commitment to UGA.

Exactly what's next is anybody's guess. However, if we had to pick what could happen next, things could turn out well for Virginia Tech.

3. BIG WEEKEND FOR RHODE ISLAND

It was a big weekend for Danny Hurley and his staff at Rhode Island. They started it off by landing four-star Jermaine Harris on Friday and capped it by getting Rivals150 shooting guard Brendan Adams on Sunday night.

Harris looks like a potential all-conference big man for Rhody. He's athletic, he's tough and he plays with a relentless motor to go with some skill to 12 feet.

Adams is an athletic playmaker who can create offense off the dribble and is a streak scorer.

Pairing those guys with tough three-star forward Dana Tate and Rhode Island is in business with a class that now ranks No. 31 nationally.

4. TWO MORE OFFICIAL VISITS FOR FOUR-STAR PETRUSEV

Four-star forward Filip Petrusev has plans to take at least two more official visits.

The skilled scorer, who has drawn raves from visiting coaches this fall for his polish on the offensive end, will take a visit to Utah on Thursday and follow that by seeing Gonzaga on Saturday.

Formerly committed to Hartford, Petrusev saw Tennessee a little over a week ago and it even looked as if he could commit to the Volunteers last week. The Vols have certainly made a strong impression but they'll have to weather at least two visits if they are going to land him.

5. TAR HEELS HEADLINE TEAM RANKING MOVEMENT

The last week featured plenty of movement in the 2018 team rankings and the biggest winners were North Carolina and Roy Williams. By adding the No. 5 player in the class, Nassir Little, to Coby White and Rechon Black the Tar Heels moved all the way up to No. 2 overall.

Up in Ann Arbor, Michigan added a pair of recruits. Three-star shooter Adrian Nunez and four-star big man Collin Castleton joined up. By combining them with four-star Ignas Brazdeikis, four-star forward Brandon Johns and Rivals150 point guard David Dejulius the Wolverines have moved into the top 10 at No. 6 overall. Their class only trails Michigan State in the Big Ten.

In the SEC, both Arkansas and Florida made nice moves. On Sunday, Arkansas added versatile forward Jordan Phillips into the mix. Phillips is the fourth Rivals150 prospect to join the Hogs' 2018 class and moves them to No. 10 overall. Down in Gainesville, Mike White and the Gators enter the 2018 rankings at No. 19 overall thanks to the addition of five-star point guard Andrew Nembhard and four-star combo guard Noah Locke.
