Starks Carruthers Leave Iona

RivalsHoops.com has learned that combo guard Eddie Starks (right), a 6-2, 205 pound guard from the Bronx, NY, has left Iona and enrolled at a junior college in Texas.
We have not been able to confirm what school he is currently attending, but do know that he withdrew from school within the last two weeks. In addition, 6-6, 245 pound power forward Kenya Carruthers has also left Iona, according to sources close to the program.

Starks averaged 5.5 points and 2.9 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game during his sophomore season in New Rochelle in 2001-02. He had enrolled at the MAAC school after previously signing a letter of intent to attend Rutgers.
Starks began his prep career at Gompers High School in the Bronx before transferring to Northwest Christian Academy in Miami, FL. He averaged 17.1 points per game in his junior and senior years and was named to the Parade Magazine All-America team.
Starks was a two-time All Florida pick as he helped lead Northwest Christian to the Florida State Championship as a junior and the Class 1A title as a senior.
Carruthers (left), a New York native who Iona recruited out of LA City College, averaged 4.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.6 minutes during last season, his junior year. In his freshman season at LACC, he averaged 14.0 points and 8.5 rebounds.
