Star Big Man Heading To JUCO Land

Sani Ibrahim, a 6-11 center from the Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, apparently has bypassed the June NBA draft and will head to a JUCO. According to Oak Hill head coach Steve Smith, Ibrahim apparently has made the wise move. "I haven't spoken to him directly," Smith said. "But from what I understand he didn't put his name in and will try a JUCO."
This would be the wise move. This gives Ibrahim some more time to showcase his skills, improve his game, and show NBA scouts that he can play in the League.

Smith would not discuss academic issues regarding Ibrahim. However, sources tell us that Ibrahim only had two options -- trying the NBA draft or heading to a JUCO.
Ibrahim did make some progress in the classroom and improved his game on the court in the latter part of the year for Oak Hill.
By going the JUCO route too, this also gives Ibrahim another option. If he doesn't progress enough to convince NBA scouts, he would still have another two years at a major college to get to the League.
Ibrahim had some recruiting interest from West Virginia, Alabama, Georgia, Cincinnati, Illinois, Georgia, and Indiana this past year. It's likely these schools will keep an eye on Ibrahim in the future.
