Johnny Dawkins and Stanford landed a monster target on Monday night and they'll be getting four-star wing Kodye Pugh a year earlier than expected.

A native of Baltimore who attends Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy and ranks No. 65 in the class of 2017, Pugh texted Rivals.com on Monday night to say that he has committed to Stanford.

On top of that the 6-foot-7 swingman says that he plans to enroll as a member of the class of 2016.

IN HIS OWN WORDS:

Currently, Pugh is finishing up his official visit to Stanford. However, he took a few minutes to break down his decision.

"I chose to attend Stanford because I felt like I was surrounded by a community of people that were like me. Talented in many different ways.

"Stanford kind of reminded me of a blend of Boys' Latina and Blair. At the end of the day, I couldn't find a reason why I shouldn't go there. I'm setting myself up for life."

RIVALS' REACTION:

Picking up a player the level of Pugh is a big score for Stanford. To get him a year earlier than expected is an even bigger bonus.

Pugh is a hard nosed and athletic wing who plays a nice balanced all-around game. He hits the glass, he defends, he can make some jump shots and he's versatile and tough enough that he could even play some at the power forward in a pinch.

With big man Trevor Stanback already signed, sealed and delivered, the Cardinal now has two four-star recruits for 2016.
