St. Joes Alone So Far With DC Swingman

One of the more intriguing prospects on display this past weekend at the Playaz Spring Fling was D.C. Assault's Deron Washington.
Washington, a 6-6, 190 pound junior swingman from National Christian Academy in Rockville, Md., is a player who thrives in an up tempo setting. Blessed with excellent athleticism and long arms, Washington is able to finish plays despite his relative lack of strength. His hops are a big help on the offensive glass, as he can finish plays with a flourish around the tin.

The one thing we didn't see Washington do was shoot much from the perimeter. It's still a developing area of his game, according to NCA and DC Assault Coach Trevor Brown.
Brown feels that Washington, a New Orleans native, is a major sleeper in the Class of 2004. Thus far, St. Joseph's University is the only major university to show serious interest in the small forward/guard.
Rivalshoops.com plans on catching D.C. Assault several more times over the spring and summer, so you can be sure that we'll keep you posted on his progress and recruitment in the months to come. Stay tuned!
