Aaron Spears, a massive 6-9, 240-pound power forward/center from Dunbar H.S. in Chicago, Ill., committed last night to Illinois. Spears took a visit to Illinois this past weekend.
Spears previously had a very good visit to Iowa the weekend of March 22nd, according to Aaron's mom. Spears also considered Miami, Connecticut, Oklahoma, and Houston at one point during his recruiting process.

"I am still really open," Spears said. "But those are the schools I will probably visit."
Spears' team finished at 18-8, losing in the playoffs. Spears averaged 27 points and 15 rebounds during his senior season. Spears told us his low post moves and quickness has improved.
Spears has the kind of size that is often hard to find on the high school level. Although he gets very little lift off the floor, Spears will draw contact near the basket and knock down an occasional flat-footed jumper.
