Southern a high-major player

Like most players in the class of 2007, Joshua Southern is just trying to get a better feel for his recruitment. The 6-foot-8, 238-pound power forward from Saginaw (MI) High School has scholarship offers from a large number of high-major programs. However, the three-star prospect is trying to determine what schools to visit and when to take those visits.
"There are so many schools recruiting me," said Southern. "Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, DePaul, Boston College and Pittsburgh are the ones that I remember off the top of my head. I believe that all of the schools that I have mentioned have offered me a scholarship."

Southern, who will spend the summer running with the Michigan Mustangs, is also receiving a heavy amount of interest from Connecticut, Miami-FL, UCLA and Vanderbilt.
With just five official visits allowed to take place, Southern make take some unofficial visits during the spring and summer. However, a decision about what schools to visit has not been decided upon.
"I am going to start taking some unofficial visits this summer," said Southern. "I also plan to use all five of my official visits. Miami-FL, Kentucky, Tennessee and Boston College are the schools that I would like to visit. I really just need to look around and see what I like.
"I'm not saying that I will officially visit those four schools for sure, but Miami-FL, Kentucky, Tennessee and Boston College are the schools that I would like to visit right now," he added. "I also want to wait and see what other schools start recruiting me after they watch me play."
