South Florida Signs Three for Next Season

BULLS INK THREE DURING EARLY SIGNING
"USF signed three players during the November early signing period. Forward Yusuf Baker (Orlando, FL/Maynard Evans H.S.), guard Danny Oglesby (Hamden, CT/Hamden Hall), and swing player Sam Barber (Lake Worth, FL/Lake Worth H.S.) signed and returned their National Letters of Intent on November 14, the first day of the week long signing period.

Baker, a 6-8, 225-pound power forward, comes to USF as one of the most highly rated front court players in the country, recently been listed as one of America’s top 25 players, at his position, by several publications and is a Street & Smith’s high honorable mention All-American. An outstanding rebounder, who is physical and aggressive around the basket, Baker suffered a torn ACL, which caused him to miss most of his junior season. He returned though following the 2000-01 campaign and was extremely impressive at several national summer camps including the prestigious Nike Camp in Indianapolis.
Oglesby, a 6-2 guard, enters his senior season as one of the premier scorers in Connecticut high school history. He is currently seventh on the state’s all-time career scoring list with 2,245 points and is just 247 points shy of breaking the mark which has stood for 29 years. As a junior Oglesby averaged over 27 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game for Hamden Hall. He is a two-time New Haven Register All-Area
selection and is a three-time All-Fairchester League pick. In addition, Oglesby has also been named the most valuable player of the New England Prep School Championship while helping Hamden to the title three times.
Barber, a 6-5 wing player, averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists per game last season at Lake Worth. He was an honorable mention All-State selection as a junior and, like Baker, was extremely impressive at the Nike All-America Camp. For his efforts last season, and over the summer, Barber was tabbed a Street & Smith’s High School honorable mention All-American."
