Soph Juan Palacios Sparks Our Savior

MIDDLE ISLAND, NEW YORK -- It won't be long before college coaches come calling on sophomore forward Juan Palacios, the 6-7, 225-pounder from Our Savior New American. Palacios, who can cut to the basket for two-pointers, and square and face up for jumpers, is one of the underclassmen gems on Our Savior's team.
Palacios showed those skills yesterday in the third place game of the Rim Rocker tournament. He slashed and shot his way to a 21-point effort against a game Longwood High School team. His performance game Our Savior New American a 76-59 win.

Palacios hit 10 field goals and one foul shot en route to his performance. He was named to the All tournament team. Albany bound guard Jamar Wilson added 13 points for the winners while Konimba Diarra continues his offensive improvement -- he had 10 points.
Longwood was led by Chad Henderson and Alex Bardeguez -- both had 12 points. Brian Treffert added 10 as well for Longwood.
Our Savior led 19-11 after the first and 41-25 at the half. Longwood made some runs in the third and fourth quarter but each time it was met with the inside strength of Palacios and Diarra.
