SMU signs Rivals150 forward Feron Hunt

SMU doubled its 2018 recruiting class on Thursday with the commitment and signing of Rivals150 wing Feron Hunt. A 6-foot-7 versatile and high upside forward that was a one-time pledge to TCU, Hunt is an excellent addition for Tim Jankovich’s bunch in Dallas.

Capable of playing within a variety of lineups thanks to his size, length and budding skillset, Hunt should be someone that is immediately leaned upon for his ability to defend three positions on the floor. The Rivals150 forward can step out to the perimeter and make the 3-point jumper, finish at the basket and also sports a decent feel for the game as a half-court passer.

Pledging to SMU on Thursday, Hunt discussed his commitment. “The staff has made me a priority and I just feel that they can help me achieve my goals,” he said. “They had a plan for me and I feel that I can be a big part of what’s going on there.”

Planning to secure the national letter of intent from already committed 2018 center Jahmar Young on Monday, SMU will complete the early signing period with two prospects in tow. Young comes more in your rim protecting variety where Hunt should thrive in an up and down pace as he is already a quality defender and offensive rebounder.
