A 6-foot-5 shooting guard at Memphis (Tenn.) Douglass, Vick picked Larry Brown and the Mustangs after a recent official visit. He was sold on Brown's long term vision for him.
"I like the team and the coaches," Vick told Rivals.com. "I just like the belief Coach Brown in me and I think he would be the best coach to help me accomplish my goals."
Vick's summer coach Norton Hurd of Team Thad echoed his player's thoughts on SMU.
"He feels like Larry Brown is the best coach for him to accomplish his dreams," said Hurd. "He is really excited about the belief that coach Brown and his staff have in him."
Thin and athletic, Vick is a very capable shooter and capable of putting up numbers in a hurry. He will enter the class of 2016 rankings and has significant upside with a year of prep school ahead of him to help work on his game.
"My biggest my biggest strength is probably shooting it actually," said Vick. "I probably think my defense has been underrated.
"Basically I'll be looking to get stronger at prep school. I also want to be able to attack the rim harder."
The Mustangs first commitment from the class of 2016, Vick is looking forward to focusing on school and getting ready for his arrival at SMU.
"I feel good knowing that I don't have to worry about anything," said Vick. "I'm looking forward to making the Final Four and accomplishing my goals."
