Smith Talks About North Carolina

J.R. Smith had always dreamed of playing for North Carolina, and that dream is now a reality. The commitment might have taken a little longer than expected, but the outcome could not have been any sweeter for both Smith and UNC head coach Roy Williams. As one might imagine, Williams was more than excited about the news.
“Coach Williams was real excited and told me that he could not wait for me to be a Tar Heel," Smith said. "I am looking forward to going to UNC and winning a national championship real soon, which is why I chose North Carolina."

Along with Smith, Marvin Williams Jr., has also given a commitment to North Carolina. The scholarship situation at UNC is a little cloudy, but it doesn’t appear that Coach Williams is done recruiting in the class of 2004. Smith will be taking his official visit to UNC next weekend (Sept 5-7) with friend Shaun Livingston.
"I have already called Shaun and told him the news, and I am about to call Marvin Williams and let him know I committed,” he added.
Smith said that UNC was the right place for him all along and that he could not wait to get to Chapel Hill.
