Smith Likes Longhorns -- Will They Offer

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Lanny Smith, a 6-2, 160 pound penetrating point guard from Eisenhower H.S. in Houston, Tex., isn''t bashful when it comes to telling you where he'd like to go to college.
"I really like Texas," he said following the Houston Superstars' victory over the Granite State Raiders on Tuesday afternoon at Green Valley H.S. "They are looking to bring in a guard whether T.J. Ford stays or leaves, and they told me that they are going to continue to watch me this summer."

While Texas hasn't offered, Smith admitted that he would commit to the Long Horns if they did extend a scholarship to him. Thus far, he said he's been offered by Baylor, Oklahoma, Houston and Texas Christian University. N.C. State has been calling to express interest this summer, but it appears that Smith is a safe bet to stay in the Southwestern U.S. for college.
Smith kicked off the busy July evaluation period at the adidas ABCD Camp in New Jersey, and then played with the Superstars at the Three Stripes Tournament in Hempstead, N.Y. Following this week's Big Time, he will wrap up the summer at the Oakland Slam N Jam Elite 8 Tournament in Berkeley, Calif.
Smith has unofficially visited both Baylor and Houston, and with a 1080 SAT score and talent to boot, he is a hot commodity among the colleges who are after him.
We will keep you posted on his recruitment in the weeks to come, so stay tuned!
