Sleeper Impresses During Summer

Adrian Carvalho, a 6'1'', 172 pound combo guard/shooting guard from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, New York, in Westchester County, is an athletic scorer who recently strutted his stuff at the Rumble in the Bronx.
Carvalho torched Riverside Church for 25 points, including five three-pointers, in the Westchester Hawks' opening day loss. Carvalho proved himself dangerous from behind the arc, with a quick release and a willing trigger. He impressed Rivals Hoops at this tournament with his confidence shooting the ball and poise, able to knock down the deep ball with hands in his face and defenders in his grill. Carvalho went head to head with Gary Ervin, Quincy Douby, and Gary Forbes in the Riverside match-up, and both Ervin and Douby gave him a vote of confidence after their battle.

"I'm not going to back down from anyone," said Carvalho. "With my ability, I think I can go up against anybody."
Carvalho, who averaged 20.1 points for Fox Lane High this past season, is a scoring guard with good athleticism. He elevates well on his jumper, and is a solid ballhandler who is elusive on trips to the rack.
Carvalho needs to get after it more defensively, and at times needs to put more effort into moving without the ball and putting himself in a position to score.
Adrian has also impressed Rivals Hoops playing in the IS8 summer league in Queens, and the UDC summer league in the Bronx. Carvalho will attend one of the Eastern Invitational sessions, and will participate in the Charlie Weber tournament at West Virginia University with Tom Jennings' Westchester Hawks. There is a possibility he may participate in the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament with the Tim Thomas Playaz, too.
Rider is the only school to have inquired about Carvalho, who, because of geography, has slipped through the cracks up until this point. Carvalho plays in the same high school league as Providence-bound Donnie McGrath from Kennedy High School in Somers, New York. The league is a bit insulated from the New York City hoops scene, but has produced some quality players of late, as evidenced by the Westchester Hawks run to the AAU Nationals the past two years.
Carvalho carries a 2.6 GPA. He has scored 940 on the SAT.
