Singletary Has All-Star Week

The summer certainly tested point guard Sean Singletary's patience. Singletary, who injured his shoulder playing football, made the injury worst by playing at the Southern Invitational at the University of Virginia in the Spring. The shoulder injury sidelined him for most of the summer.
Singletary returned to action recently. He played his past week at the Five Star camp in Honesdale, Penn. His week was so good that he landed a spot in the Orange-White All Star game. His team, the Orange, won easily. Singletary scored seven points and had seven assists.

"It's getting there," he said referring to the shoulder. "I shouldn't have played at the Southern Invitational. I only made it worse. But the doctors say if I rest it occasionally I should be fine. It's not 100 percent yet. It's getting there."
Singletary, 5-foot-11, 170-pounds from Penn Charter High School in Philadelphia, Penn., stated he was excited about joining Virginia for the 2004-2005 season. "They have a great style of play," said Singletary, who has already given a verbal commitment to Pete Gillen's program. "It's a great conference too and a great school. There's a lot to like about playing at Virginia."
For the week at Five Star, Singletary averaged 17.6 points a game. He had a high game of 33 points. He also hit for seven three-pointers in the five regular pool games. "I just wanted to get out here one more time this summer," he said. "It's my last Five Star as a high school player. I wanted to take advantage of the chance."
