Sims Selects A School

Brandon Sims, a 6-5, 190 pound red-shirt sophomore swingman/shooting guard from Johnson County C.C. in Overland Park, Kansas, signed with Creighton.
Sims took his first official visit to Creighton from Apr. 19-21. According to Johnson County Asst. Coach Tim Perry, Kansas State, Gonzaga and the College of Charleston were also actively recruiting Sims.

If for some reason Sims is unable to graduate by this summer, he can return to Johnson County for his sophomore campaign in 2002-2003. Because he was a partial qualifier out of high school, Sims will need to earn his associates degree before moving on to the Division I ranks.
One of the better marksman in the Jayhawk Conference last year, Sims played an integral role in Johnson County's ascension to the 2001 NJCAA Division II title. In fact, he was named MVP of the Division II Tournament.
A back injury forced him to sit out the 2001-2002 season, and it had a severe impact on the Cavalier's fortunes.
"We really missed him bad this year," Jeffers said. "That was 17 points per game."
To be exact, Sims averaged 16.3 points per contest as a freshman and knocked down 80 three pointers.
Sims is a native of Birmingham, Ala.
