Simpson Jr., Scheduling Visits

Delbert Simpson, Jr., a 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward from John Tyler High School in Tyler, TX., recently returned from an official visit to New Mexico State. The Lone Star big man more than enjoyed his first visit, but he isn’t ready to end his recruitment just yet. It’s likely that Simpson will take four more visits before reaching a decision.
“I just got back from an official visit to New Mexico State,” Simpson, Jr. said. “I left on August 29 and got back home on the 31 of August. The New Mexico State coaching staff is scheduled to come in for an in-home visit on September 12.

“I really had a great time during my visit, but I’m not ready to end the recruiting process just yet,” he added. “I’m going to officially visit other schools, but New Mexico State is a school that I definitely like.”
Fresno State, Nebraska, South Alabama and The Citadel are the schools that Simpson will likely visit. There was a time when Oklahoma was showing quite a bit of interest, but they’re no longer in the mix.
“I’ll be taking an official visit to Nebraska this coming weekend,” Simpson said. “I leave on September 5 and return on September 7. I’ve scheduled an in-home visit with the staff, but I’m not certain about the exact date.
“The Fresno State coaching staff will be in for a visit on September 17,” he added. “I also plan on officially visiting South Alabama and The Citadel, but no dates have been scheduled for those visits. I really don’t know what school I will visit for my fifth visit.”
Simpson indicated that a decision about his future would be made before the start of his basketball season.
