Simon Gratz Staves Off St. Dominics Rally

TRENTON, N.J. -- St. Dominic's mounted a furious second half comeback to tie Simon Gratz, but the Bulldogs used a 7-2 spurt to close the game and emerge with a 52-47 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Prime Time Shootout.

The Bay Hawks trailed 34-19 after a half, but dominated the second half, drawing even on a driving lay-in by junior guard Leigh Moglia with 2:19 left in the game.
Maurice Collins, a 6-4 senior swingman who led all scorers with 21 points, keyed the game ending spurt that allowed Gratz to emerge with the win.
Collins scored on a short jumper around the basket with 1:50 to play to break the tie for good. He also hit one of two free throws with 24.7 seconds left to push the lead to 50-45.
Point guard Omar Johnson hit four free throws sandwiched around Collins' lone free throw to help the Bulldogs salt away the outcome. Johnson added 19 points in the win.
Tim Doyle (above), who is committed to St. John's, impressed the crowd with his savvy passing and inspired play. He finished with 19 points and five assists.
Senior forward Brian Houlihan added 10 points in defeat for the Bay Hawks.
