Sidney sets announcement date

Renardo Sidney has been a prominent name on the national stage ever since he emerged out of Mississippi as an eighth-grader as one of the top prospects in the country. On Sunday, Sidney will end his prolonged recruitment during a press conference at Los Angeles (Calif.) Fairfax High School.
Fairfax coach Harvey Kitani confirmed with Rivals.com that Sidney will announce his college choice at a 4 p.m. (PST) press conference Sunday in the Fairfax High School gym.

Sidney, the No. 10-ranked prospect in the Rivals150, is expected to decide among USC, UCLA, UNLV, Texas and Mississippi State. The two local schools are considered the favorites to land the 6-foot-10, 250-pound power forward.
After a mediocre summer, Sidney has played stellar basketball for Fairfax during his senior season. A better conditioned and more focused player, Sidney is averaging 26.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.6 blocks for his state championship contending team.
Renardo Sidney scouting report:
An elite prospect, Sidney has a lethal combination of size and skill with the basketball. He has 3-point shooting range and handles and passes the ball extremely well. Not an explosive athlete, Sidney does have great body control and an advanced feel for the game. Being in shape and being willing to grind out plays in the paint are keys to Sidney reaching his full potential.
