RivalsHoops caught up with Josh Shipp to talk with him about his recent commitment to UCLA. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound shooting guard from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles chose UCLA over Oregon and a handful of other PAC 10 schools.

“I feel excited,” said Shipp, the No. 12 shooting guard and No. 50 player in the Rivals150. “We have a great class coming in. It will be fun to see what we can do. It is a release to have this over, but it is a little weird. It is so quiet. The phone doesn’t ring that much anymore.”
Shipp said there were two deciding factors that gave UCLA the edge.
“One is that it is close to home and my family can watch me play. The other is that I wanted to see what school can do the most for me and it was UCLA.”
Shipp is also determined to help UCLA.
“I can help them win a national championship. I will do whatever it takes to win, and I will be their outside threat.”
Shipp, whose stock rose over the summer, can do more than help the Bruins from the outside. He is a consummate athletic shooting guard that can pass the ball and finish inside and off the dribble.
