Shelton Looking To Breakout This Summer

After being injured for the better part of last summer, Titus Shelton is ready to make a name for himself on the summer circuit. The 6-foot-7, 245-pound combo forward from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, CA., is planning to establish himself as one of the elite players in the state of California and, more importantly, one of the better players in the class of 2005. “Titus has the mindset that he is going to prove himself out on the court this summer,” Bakersfield High School head coach Justin Hutson said. “He will be playing against some big time competition during the AAU season, so he must prove that he can play against the best players in the nation. Many high major colleges are interested in Titus, but they want to see him perform this summer and see what type of player he really is. This will be his third year traveling with EBO, so he is definitely looking forward to that.”

Quite a few elite level schools inquired about Shelton throughout his junior season, but a handful of those schools wanted to see him perform this summer before getting too involved in the recruiting process.
“I received several calls about Titus during the contact period,” Coach Hutson said. “Boston College, Utah State, Fresno State and UC Santa Barbara all called during the contact period. I know that Titus really loves Fresno State, but he wants to see how he performs this summer to see what schools get involved in his recruitment.
“Titus is going to average 22-points and 12 rebounds for us next year,” he added. “That is the type of player he is, and he has that type of ability. Once everybody sees him play this summer, they are going to be impressed with the type of player he really is.”
