Shelley ready to make some Waves

Pepperdine landed a player that can help take the West Coast Conference school to the next level when Tyrone Shelley committed on Sunday.
The 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing from Crawford High School in San Diego, Calif., is the highest rated player to commit to Pepperdine maybe ever. The No. 47 ranked player in the class of 2007 said he picked Pepperdine over Washington.

"I like the fact that there closer to home and they have a lot of players on the team that I already know," Shelley said. "I also really like the coaching staff. They did a great job recruiting me."
Shelley is a dynamic scorer. The four-star wing averaged 28 points and 13 rebounds a game as a junior and scored 76 points in a game last year. Those kinds of numbers will be difficult to repeat at the college level but Shelley says he will try to live up to his scoring reputation.
"I feel I can come in and start as a freshmen and but up big numbers. I'm really looking forward to it," Shelley said. "I feel the biggest adjustment will be the pace of the college game. Once I learn that I will be ok."
