Shelden Williams Update

Shelden Williams, a multi-talented and hard-working 6-9, 240-pound forward from Midwest City High School in Oklahoma, told us the NBA is not out of the picture. "My thoughts now are to go to college," Williams said. "I am going to take my visits and then make up my mind."
Williams said if the right offer came along next spring he would seriously consider jumping from high school to the NBA. "Playing in the NBA is my dream," Williams said. "But also playing for a coach like Coach K is great too."

Williams will visit Coach K on August 24th. "I have not set up any other visits," Williams said. "But I would like to take some more."
Williams has indicated he would like to visit Illinois, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. But, there is a possibility he could give a verbal to Duke if he is ready. "There is a possibility," Williams said. "Duke is a great program. It's a great academic school. They have a great coach and they always get to the Final Four."
Williams said Duke is his leader but it's possible he could choose another school. "I really like the other three schools too."
Williams also said he is also considering Syracuse, Michigan, Kentucky and Kansas. "They all have a chance for a visit," Williams said. "I want to be totally sure on the school I will attend."
Williams, who averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds per game last season as a junior, is a legitimate McDonald's All American candidate because he has an impact on both sides of the court.
Williams is one of the most sought after players and many believe he is the best player in this year's class of 2002. He plays tough inside and can go out and drop down the jumper. Williams is also a good defender, works hard on the glass, and blocks shots.
