Shelden Williams Duke Visit Could Be Last

Shelden Williams, a multi-talented and hard-working 6-9, 240-pound forward from Midwest City High School in Oklahoma, told us there is a possibility that if he feels the time is right, he could commit on the Duke visit.
"There is always that possibility," Williams said. "Duke is my leader. Coach K is one of the best coaches ever. It's a great academic school."

Williams said he is not going into the trip to make a decision but to get a good feel of what campus life is like too. "I have set up two visits," Williams said. "I also plan on visiting Illinois in September (middle)."
Williams has not set up his trip to North Carolina. There is a possibility the Illinois and North Carolina visits may not even take place if Williams is overwhelmed with an official visit to Duke. It has happened in the past. Example: Chris Duhon, who insisted he was taking several visits. He committed to Duke on his trip.
No matter what school Shelden decides on also, the NBA is not out of the picture. "My thoughts now are to go to college," Williams said. "I am going to take my visits and then make up my mind."
Williams said if the right offer came along next spring he would seriously consider jumping from high school to the NBA. "Playing in the NBA is my dream," Williams said. "But also playing for a coach like Coach K is great too."
Williams has indicated he would like to visit Oklahoma. If this process goes into late September, Oklahoma would have a good shot too. But they have been trailing so far in this process.
Williams, who averaged 20 points and 13 rebounds per game last season as a junior, is a legitimate McDonald's All American candidate because he has an impact on both sides of the court.
Williams is one of the most sought after players and many believe he is the best player in this year's class of 2002. He plays tough inside and can go out and drop down the jumper. Williams is also a good defender, works hard on the glass, and blocks shots.
