Shelden Franklins Three Rallies Laurinburg

SMITHFIELD, RHODE ISLAND -- Shelden Franklin's top of the key jumper with 10 seconds left help give Laurinburg Institute a 62-59 victory over Bridgton Academy at the 2002 National Prep School Invitational held on the campus of Bryant College.
Laurinburg lead 35-34 at the half but it appeared that Bridgton Academy had control in the second half. Louis Ford (13 points), Larry Turner (10 points), Giedrius Rinkevicius (12 points) and Dejan Delic (10 points) all played well to keep Bridgton ahead most of the second half.

"We didn't hit our free throws and we didn't hit the key baskets at the end," said Bridgton Academy coach Whit Lesure.
Lesure was talking also about a driving layup by Turner spun in and out of the basket in the last minute which probably could have iced the game for Bridgton. But Bridgton opened the door for Laurinburg. And Franklin hit the big shot.
Franklin finished with 12 points but they also got big efforts out of Cortez Davis (16 points) (above right) and Terrance Whiters (18 points).
