Shaw visiting his favorite

Three-star power forward Matt Shaw from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, Calif., will head cross country tomorrow to visit Temple. The Owls are at the top of Shaw's list, but a local Pac-10 schools is right behind them.
"Temple is my favorite, and USC is right behind them," said Shaw, 6-foot-8, 245-pounds and the No. 15 ranked prospect in the state of California. "I'm also looking at Boise State and San Francisco.

"Everyone but USC has offered. One of USC's assistant coaches cam to school and said they want me to visit, but they are not in a position to offer me a scholarship right now."
USC has already received 2006 commitments from Kevin Galloway, Kasey Cunningham and Taj Gibson.
As for Shaw's visitation schedule, he might only need one visit to know that Temple will be his ultimate destination.
"I do not have any visits set up after the Temple visit," he said. "After this one, I am just going to play it by ear.
"When I visit Temple, I will look at their player development program and the graduation rate. I also need to see if I could see myself living there for a long time."
Shaw, who averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game as a junior, is a skilled power forward with a soft touch. A lack of conditioning and a lack of athleticism were issues with his game on the AAU circuit this past summer.
