Shaw Hearing From High Majors

Matt Shaw has clearly established himself as one of the top players in the class of 2006. After having a stellar sophomore campaign at Verbum Dei High School, the 6-foot-8, 230-pound power forward from Los Angeles, CA., has seen his recruitment take off. High major programs from coast to coast are hoping to get involved in the California natives recruitment.
“Florida, Florida State, UCLA, Michigan, Miami-FL and Kansas are just a few schools interested in Matt,” Verbum Dei High School Head Coach DeAnthony Langston said. “Matt has the ability to be a superstar if he continues to work on and improve his game. He really is a special player, but he needs to work on several areas this summer.

“Matt is very talented and his mind is probably his strongest asset,” he added. “He is very mature and has a great deal of upside, but he really needs to work on his intensity. If Matt really wants to be considered a first tier type player, his level of intensity definitely needs to rise.”
Coach Langston indicated that he and Shaw had a talk at the end of the year about making some improvements throughout the summer. The 6-foot-8 power forward is dedicated to becoming the best player he possibly can be.
Other schools interested in Shaw include Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Southern Cal and Washington.
Rivals.com ranks Shaw No. 30 on the Rivals50 list.
