Shaun Wynn A Good Find For BU
Xaverian's
Shaun Wynn, a Boston University signee,
did a masterful defensive job on St. Raymond's star
Allen Ray last week while running the team during Xaverian's
66-49 win in the CHSAA quarterfinals at
Iona College. Wynn though was unable to get his game going yesterday against Rice High School. But Wynn is a great find for Boston University.
The solidly built Wynn, a 6'2'' combo guard, held
Ray to only 4 points and a 2-11 shooting night from
the field. He also chipped in 11 points while running
the team, sacrificing a bit of his scoring abilities
for the collective good.
Wynn's defensive prowess is an underrated aspect of
his game, something the Brooklyn native takes a lot of
pride in. Xaverian coach Jack Elisi told Rivals Hoops
that Wynn is the member of his team who always matches
up with the opponent's top player.
"Everytime I go up against a top player, I always
take it as a personal challenge," said Wynn. I'm
always up for the challenge."
"I always work on my defense, practice my defensive
slides. I feel like it's a lost art. Not too many
players work on their defense much."
Wynn committed to B.U. in November, citing the
coaching staff's commitment to him, the school's urban
campus, and his comfort level with the staff, school,
and players as the overriding factors in his decision.
Boston U. was the first program to offer Wynn a
scholarship, and their commitment meant a lot to him.
Other schools who had expressed interest included
Lafayette, Colgate, Princeton, and Rutgers.
Wynn played this summer with the Gauchos.
