Shaun Livingston cuts list to six favorites

Shaun Livingston, a 6-foot-6, 175-pound point guard from Peoria High School in Peoria, Illinois, is one of top guard prospects in the class of 2004.
Livingston, who is rated five-stars by Rivals.com, recently trimmed his list of favorites to six schools, all of which have extended offers.

“My recruitment is going real good and I’m starting to get more involved. I sat down with my coach and father and I have six schools that are on top of my list,” Livingston said. “Arizona, Illinois, Florida, Kansas, Duke and Louisville are the schools that I’m really interested in.
“I will leave the list open and will consider other schools,” he added. “These are the six schools that have been showing the most interest. There are no leaders at this time and I’m wide open.”
Livingston’s on the court game is attractive for several reasons. He has a great feel for the game and the same must be said about his court awareness, but his height separates him from the other guards in this class.
“Offensively, passing the ball and my ball handling skills are some of my biggest strengths. My height allows me to see over my defender, which is an advantage for me,” he said. “My jump shot is developing, but that might be my biggest weakness on the offensive end.
“Defensively, I’m a rebounder because of my height,” he added. “I can play the passing lane, I’m a good on the ball defender and I can defend off the ball, too.”
Livingston and the rest of his Peoria teammates recently won a State Championship, so they have been a bit busy lately. They have been invited to several Major League baseball games and it sounds like they will gladly accept.
However, not all is perfect for Livingston. There is a general belief that he is virtual lock to attend Illinois, which is not the case.
“I have no idea where I’m going to play my college basketball, but I can tell you that I have no leaders and location is not a factor,” he said. “I just have to decide if I want to leave the state or stay here and play.”
Livingston will spend the summer traveling with his Ft. Sooy No Limit AAU teammates, but he is in no hurry to start playing again. He plans on relaxing and watching the remainder of the NCAA Tournament.
“Man, I can’t lie. I’ve got Texas beating Kansas for the National Championship,” he said. Both teams are really good, so it should be a good game.”
