Sharpshooter Russell Carter Signs

It didn't take long for Russell Carter to appreciate the campus and school of Notre Dame. Carter, who officially visited the South Bend campus this past weekend, signed his letter of intent this morning, according to his dad, Russell, Sr. "I am very proud," Mr. Carter said. "He signed it this morning."
Carter is a pretty good basketball player. The Irish had to hold off late interest from Georgia and Penn State too. Carter also expressed interest in William & Mary. But a coaching change at that school changed his thought process for William & Mary.

Carter, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound combo guard from Paulsboro High School in Paulsboro, New Jersey (about 30 minutes from Philadelphia), is a guard who can score in bunches. He sat out last summer's AAU sessions due to an injury. Carter, who averaged over 30 points a game and close to 12 rebounds, can flat out fill it up.
Russell also sports fine academic credentials, carrying a 3.8 GPA and having scored 1140 on the SAT. This was a big factor why he seriously looked at both Notre Dame and William & Mary.
