SG Signs Letter

Danny Green, a 6-2, 170-pound shooting guard from Poly Prep High School in Brooklyn, has signed with Colgate.
Green, an athletic slasher who averaged 24 points per game this past season, chose the Patriot League program over Florida Atlantic, who had offered. Green's uncle, former NBA star Sidney Green, is the head coach at FAU. Other programs who were in contention included Sacred Heart, whom Green had visited officially and received a scholarship offer from UMBC.

UMBC had offered a visit to Green with an offer likely to come. Northeastern had expressed interest. A slew of other mid to low major programs had expressed interest in Green over the last six months including St. Francis (NY), Quinnipiac, Towson, New Hampshire, and others.
Ultimately, however, it was Colgate's loyalty that helped sway Green. "They were recruiting me since last year, and stuck
with me the entire way," said Green. "That made a difference."
Also figuring prominently in Danny's decision were the school's academic offerings. With so many young people chasing after programs where they can log the most minutes on the hardwood, it is refreshing to see that Green took his life beyond basketball into consideration with his decision.
"The academic side of the school (appealed to me)," said Green. "I also considered my future after basketball."
Green brings good size and considerable athleticism to Colgate's backcourt. Green will join his former teammate at Poly Prep, Keith Williams, at the Hamilton, New York, school.
This is a quality pick-up for Colgate, who is also looking to pick up a point guard and a post player in this year's class.
