Who is top player in Class of 2014?
Before the start of his senior season, three-star forward Jeff Garrett made a big decision. He decided to leave his home in Alabama in hopes of boosting his recruitment and game. The move looks to be paying off.
Now at Oldsmar (Fla.) Christian, the 6-foot-7 senior is thriving in Jordan Fair's program.
"It's going really well," Garrett told Rivals.com of the move to Oldsmar. "I think it's the best decision I ever made in my life. I'm getting more work ethic and taking school more seriously."
A few weeks ago, Rivals.com saw the improvement first hand at the Under Armour Showcase. Garrett looked to have added strength and played a very balanced inside/out game. He sniffed out loose rebounds, hit open jumpers and was very versatile.
"I think I still need to get a bit stronger and be more vocal on the floor," said Garrett. "My strength is that I can play an all around game.
"Schools see me playing all over the floor."
The college offers have started to roll in and Garrett listed Oregon State, USF, Temple, Murray State, Tulane, FIU, South Alabama, UAB and Rhode Island as having offered while USC and Arkansas have showed interest.
Garrett says that he'll be looking to set up visits in February and he has a few places in mind that stand out as likely recipients of visits.
"I think for sure I'll take visits to Tulane, Oregon State and Murray State," said Garrett. "I come from a real family environment and I'll look for a place that stresses family and a place where I can have a chance to win."
