Second Williams getting looks

Steele Canyon High School in San Diego, Calif., made it to the semifinals of the Southern Sectional and finished with a 29-2 record largely behind the guard play of San Diego State signee Richie Williams. There was another guard, however, making large contributions to the squad in Raymond Williams, Richie's younger brother. A 5-foot-7 junior point guard, Raymond Williams has schools out west giving him a close look.
"Raymond is jet quick," said Steele Canyon head coach Brad Leaf. "He can defend the full court as well as any guard I have seen. His offensive game is developing, and he is getting his shot together."

Williams, who averaged 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals per game, has the attention of coaches out west.
"A lot of schools are interested in Raymond from the Pac-10 to the Big West," said Leaf. "California-Irvine and Riverside are all over him. Of course San Diego State is interested. Out of the Pac-10, Washington State has shown some interest."
Another pint sized point guard in San Diego is 2007 prospect Jay Dee Luster, and Coach Leaf feels his young guard is right up there with Luster.
"They [the Williams brothers] tore Luster up this year," said Leaf. "They held him to 4 of 20 shooting, and both of them scored over 20. Jay Dee is more polished offensively right now than Raymond, but Raymond is a much better defensive player."
