Second Rivals150 guard for Temple

RANKINGS: Class of 2014 - 2015 - 2016
All throughout the recruitment of four-star guard Levan Alston, the question was whether anybody could do enough to keep him from following in the footsteps of his father, Levan Alston Sr., and playing at Temple. Tuesday morning, Alston answered that question with a resounding no.

During a first thing in the morning ceremony at Havertown (Pa.) Haverford, the No. 104 player in the country donned his father's jersey and announced he would play for the Owls.
Make no mistake, Alston isn't some legacy recruit getting a charity scholarship. The 6-foot-3 combo guard is somebody highly capable of stepping in and helping Fran Dunphy and the Owls out right away.
A scorer by trade, Alston really excels at creating opportunities for himself off the dribble. He is as good a pull-up jump shooter from between 12 and 17 feet as there is in the class of 2015 and his range extends to the three point line. It wouldn't be right to classify him as a high flyer, but Alston has a great first step and above average lateral quickness.
Combine that quickness with long arms and Alston should also be able to develop into a high level defender who can lock up both point and shooting guards.
Perhaps, the only thing standing in the way of Alston being able to play major minutes as a freshman is physical strength. He is still quite skinny and needs to become as familiar with the weight room as possible.
By landing Alston, Temple now has a pair of Rivals150 prospects committed from the class of 2015. Already in the fold is Alston's summer teammate from Philly based Team Final, Trey Lowe. Though Lowe is taller than Alston, the No. 122 player in 2015 is also a natural scorer by trade and needs to add strength.
While there was hope a few months ago that Alston and Lowe may be joined by elite point guard Jalen Brunson, this is a duo that Temple fans should be quite excited about. They figure to score a lot of points and win a lot of games together during their college years.
