THE RIVALS150: 2016 | 2017

Ranked No. 18 overall in the class of 2017, 6-foot-5 shooting guard John Petty looks to be emerging as the main target in a battle between SEC programs for his services.
Petty said Alabama, Arkansas Auburn, Georgia and Kentucky have been in to see him during the fall.
A skilled wing player who can shoot with range, Petty has an ideal body type and good overall ball skills, Petty is the type of athlete who should arrive at a college campus ready to contribute immediately.
IN HIS OWN WORDS:
"I actually did a couple of visits in the fall to Alabama and Kentucky. (Alabama coach Avery Johnson) is just saying that he's really going to change around the program from the previous years of Alabama's history. So I can't wait to see what he's got planned."
"(Kentucky coach John Calipari) is honest. He tells me that they have a lot of great talent coming in to Kentucky. You have to compete for your position and that's no problem for me. I like to compete and I'm a competitive person."
WHAT'S NEXT:
Petty told Rivals.com he is planning to take some unofficial visits during the winter so that he can see what schools look like on game day. However, he has yet to decide any of the dates or destinations. Realistically, he doesn't look to be in too big of a hurry to make a decision and seems pretty content playing out his junior season and seeing who is tracking him.
RIVALS' REACTION:
Getting to watch Petty over the weekend at the Marshall County Hoopfest was interesting. He was very content to share the ball with his teammates and wasn't perhaps quite as aggressive in looking for his own offense as one might expect. Speak to him off the court, though, and it is easily apparent that he's just a laid back kid who isn't trying to force things either on the court or with his recruitment.
Petty says he doesn't have any favorites yet, but the way things are shaping up, it looks like he will either leave the state for Kentucky or stay home to play at Alabama or Auburn.
