SEC, ACC schools beginning to track Ezikpe's progress

RIVAL VIEWS: Most important decision to return to school

ATLANTA – One of the top performers from the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions last weekend was Kalu Ezikpe, a three-star power forward in the 2018 class. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound “stretch four” started off the weekend with 28 points in a win on Friday night and followed it up with a 29-point outing in a victory on Saturday evening.

Ezikpe doesn’t yet hold any high-major offers, but several of them are tracking the Georgia native. Alabama, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Xavier are among those showing interest, while Florida Gulf Coast, Furman, Middle Tennessee, Troy and UAB have all offered already. He recently visited Clemson and Furman unofficially.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Clemson: “It was fun. It was cool. They just said to find something I’m really good at and perfect it. They said they are going to be watching me closely during July.”

Georgia: “We’re going up to their team camp and they are going to watch me there. I like Georgia a lot. It’s close to home. It’s nice there.”

Cincinnati/Xavier: “Cincinnati told me they want to see me guard on the perimeter and Xavier’s coach told me they will be watching me during July.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Ezikpe’s high school team will be making the short drive over to Athens next month to play in Georgia’s team camp, which will give him another opportunity to potentially earn a Georgia offer. He said he’d also like to see some of the other schools recruiting him at some point this summer.

RIVALS’ REACTION

Look for Ezikpe to eventually reel in some offers from high-major programs. While he’s a bit undersized for a post player, he’s a very smooth scorer who is comfortable shooting three-pointers and makes them at a pretty good rate. He has big, strong hands and really soft touch finishing around the rim. He’s improved at a remarkable rate the past six months and doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon.
