Scoring Guard Loves Maryland

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA -- One of the more exciting players in the 2003 class is scoring guard Gary Ervin, who plans now to attend Notre Dame Academy in Massachusetts this season. He can jet up and down the court and score from any place on the hardwood. Ervin pumps in points at a furious pace and he can decimate an opponent just with his offensive skills.
"I am working on every part of my game this summer," Ervin told us from the Southern Invitational. "I want to get better at handling the ball, going to the basket, improve my jumpshot. Everything."

Ervin played last season at Robeson High School in Brooklyn, New York. Ervin has been playing with the Riverside Church AAU program this spring and also recently participated in the Boo Williams Invitational in Richmond, VA. "I am going to be with Riverside for the tournament in Indiana on Memorial Day weekend," Ervin said. "Then I will be at the NIKE camp, the Peach Jam and at the Showcase."
So Ervin will be busy. Seton Hall, Memphis, Rutgers, Miami, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati were the schools that have recently recruited Ervin hard. But interesting, he brought up Maryland.
"I am working hard this summer," Ervin said. "I am going to work so hard to make Maryland recruit me. I want Maryland to believe I can play for them. I would love to go to a place like that. I like their style of play. I think I would do great there."
