Schools watching Bowie

Three-star 2007 prospect Adrian Bowie has always found a niche on very talented teams with his hard nosed defense and his slashing ability. Having played for the DC Assault and for Montrose Christian, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound combo guard has plenty of schools keeping up with him.
"My top two schools are Connecticut and Florida," said Bowie. "I'm also interested in Georgia Tech, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Georgetown, Villanova and Michigan. All these schools except for Florida and Georgia Tech have watched me play this year."

Two themes standout for Bowie's top two schools-the transition game and pressure defense.
"I like Connecticut's style of play and the way they get up and down the floor," he said. "I also like the pressure defense that they play.
"Florida also likes to run, and I like the way Coach Donovan uses his guards and the way their guards pressure the ball."
Having already unofficially visited area schools Virginia, Georgetown and Maryland, Bowie noted that he would not mind going to school a little further from home.
"I'd like to get away from home and preferably play at a place with nice weather," he said. "The graduation rate of the athletes will be important to me, as will a good relationship with the players and coaches."
With a 3.0 GPA and slated to take the SAT in April, Bowie has been putting in extra hours working on his shooting and ball handling. This summer he will play for the Nike sponsored Triple Threat club instead of with the DC Assault.
Adrian Bowie scouting report:
Bowie is a physical combo guard who excels on the defensive end. A lefty, he loves to attack the basket with either hand on offense. At times he can force the issue too much, and his outside shot has room for improvement.
