Schools planting seeds with Gardner
It didn't take long for David Gardner to host his first in-home visit. In fact, few prospects in the country had a coach in as early as the 6-foot-6 wing from Okolona (Miss.) High and after hosting one, he dove into hosting several more.
At seven in the morning, Gardner received a visit from Josh Pastner and his staff at Memphis. But, it didn't stop there. Mississippi State went to meet with him at his school at 11 in the morning and today he'll meet with Arkansas and Auburn.

According to his mother Angela, there are a couple of important factors in his recruitment.
"For me, number one is academics," said Gardner's mother. "I want D.J. to get a good education wherever he chooses to go. Number two is playing time."
Gardner, a big wing with a pure stroke from deep, where he'll be treated like family and he's probably not going very far.
"I've told coaches that he's close to his mom and that I want whoever he plays for to treat him like I would," Gardner's mother told Rivals.com. "When he's comfortable and happy with a school, I will be too."
So far, the 60th ranked prospect in the class of 2011 has set up official visits to Arkansas (Sept. 17), Auburn (Sept. 24) and Mississippi State (Oct. 23).
