Schools flocking around Simmons

Class of 2013 Rivals150 prospect Antravious Simmons is coming on strong, and schools are noticing.
A 6-foot-9, 225-pound center, Simmons has put up 35 and 28 points for Miami (Fla.) South in his last two games.

On Thursday night, Florida will be in the stands to see if Simmons can replicate his recent success.
Florida isn't the only school checking on Simmons. Missouri and Syracuse are the most recent schools to show interest. Clemson, Miami and Maryland have also been involved, and offers are in from Alabama, Kansas State, Memphis, Murray State, USF and VCU.
A former offensive lineman, Simmons gave up football this year and dropped 40 pounds. He is a throwback post man who knows his place is right around the basket.
"Antravious is a back-to-the-basket type guy," said Simmons' travel team coach, Kenny Gillion of Team Breakdown. "He doesn't float around on the perimeter, but finishes around the basket with power and blocks shots."
Currently the No. 141 prospect in the Rivals150, Simmons is averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds per game.
