Schools checking on Harp

Three-star 2007 prospect Ryan Harp of Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas, is a smooth shooting guard who plays with the mentality of a coach's son. Harp, 6-foot-4, 185-pounds, has had several high-major schools watch him workout this fall.
"TCU, Northwestern and Stanford have been in this fall," said Harp. "Notre Dame is also scheduled to come in, and I'm expecting Texas A&M and Valpo sometime also."

Harp, who carries a 3.6 GPA, will give close consideration to academics when analyzing schools during his recruitment. At this early stage in the process, Notre Dame and Stanford have an edge on the other schools.
"Notre Dame has a really good program, are nationally known and have strong academics," commented Harp. "Stanford separates itself as the best school. A degree from Stanford says a lot outside of basketball. Plus California is nice."
Despite the obvious feelers from such strong schools, Harp's focus is on the development of his game.
"I know I'll need to handle the ball more in college, so I'm working on my point skills," he said. "I'm also trying to get a lot of shots up. I'm doing a better job of getting to the hole, but I can still get better at finishing. I think it is just a matter of strength and concentration."
Harp averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds per game while shooting 54 percent from behind the arc during his sophomore campaign.
