Schools across the Country on Stepheson

The No. 22 ranked player in the class of 2005 Alex Stepheson drew the attention of some storied programs with his play over the summer for the Pump N Run AAU club. The 6-foot-9, 210-power forward from Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City, Calif., is hearing from schools on both coasts and in between.
“I am looking at all the schools recruiting me,” said Stepheson. “I really don’t have a list. Right now most of the Pac-10 is recruiting me. So is Kentucky, and Duke is a little bit.”

Stepheson, who has a 3.0 GPA said that location would not play a factor in his decision.
Stepheson is a finesse style power forward who has the potential to develop into a small forward. He has good hands and feet and is quick to the ball but needs to develop more strength to consistently come up with the ball and finish in traffic. In the post he has nice spin moves either direction, although he does have the tendency to spin himself into traffic when he would be better served to shoot a simple turn around jumper.
“Being more aggressive is my main focus right now,” said Stepheson about his game. “I should be able to play small or power forward in college, but right now I am more of a power forward. I need to keep working on my small forward skills.”
Stepheson averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds per game during his sophomore season in high school.
