San Diego Signs Maroney
Lawrence Maroney, a 6-6, 190 pound swingman from Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY, signed with San Diego, the school announced recently. Maroney had been recruited by Illinois, Louisville, Massachussetts and Georgetown.
Maroney, who prepped at Iroqouis Central H.S. in Elma, NY, led the Erie CC (20-11) in scoring at 15.1 points per game this past season. He also averaged 7.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3.6 steals per game during the 2001-02 campaign.
Maroney hit 60.9 percent of his shots from the field. He was selected First Team All-Western New York Region the past two years.
