Since taking over the helm at Saint Louis University, Travis Ford has been making some big waves.

He's already landed two Rivals150 guys from the class of 2017 and the waves got much bigger on Wednesday when five-star junior Carte'Are Gordon announced that he will be staying home.

A 6-foot-8 power forward from Webster Groves (Mo.) High, Gordon made things official on Wednesday.

Gordon's Godfather Chris White said the relationship developed with Ford and assistant Corey Tate plus the opportunity to stay home was too much to pass up.

“We’ve had a really good relationship with Corey Tate for a while and Coach Ford has been great as well," said White. "Also Carte’Are’s girlfriend is committed to play college soccer at SLU. They’ve really developed a relationship and convinced him that him going to SLU and playing for the hometown would be a great marriage.

“Carte’Are loves St. Louis and the opportunity to play in front of his friends and family is huge.”

One of the most physically tough and powerful interior players in the class of 2018, Gordon was hugely productive in somewhat limited minutes last summer for both Nike Peach Jam winning MoKan Elite and USA Basketball's World Championship winning 17U team.

Gordon's interior play will remain his bread and butter, but the opportunity to expand his game in college was also a huge factor in his decision to stay home.

“Depending on his growth Ford said he will have him handling the ball a little and will try to turn him into an inside out player," said White. "They want to have him do some things on the perimeter to add to what he does on the inside and that goes along with what Carte’Are is looking to do with his game.”
