Sacramento Big Man Signs with Hoyas

Sead Dizdarevic, a 6-foot-8, 220 pound senior forward from Highlands High School in Sacramento, signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball with the Georgetown Hoyas this Fall. He chose Georgetown over Utah, Loyola Marymount, San Jose State, Sacramento State, Bowling Green and Nevada.
Sead (pronounced Sĕd) visited the Washington D.C. campus several weeks ago and was impressed with what he saw. "I was surprised, the people were very nice," said Dizdarevich. "It was a nice experience."

Dizdarevich also cited academics and the success the Hoyas have had developing big men like Patrick Ewing, Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington, and more recently, Mike Sweetney. "My goal is to make the NBA," said Dizdarevich. "If not, the education (at Georgetown) says a lot."
The Yugoslavian national slipped under the radar because he immigrated to the United States just this past year. Noone heard of him until he began making waves in the local prep scene as a sterotypical European big man with true wing skills ala Dirk Nowitski of the Dallas Mavericks.
The foreign exchange student averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and four assists and led his team to their first appearance in the Sac-Joaquin Section finals in 20 years. He was selected second-team All-City by the Sacramento Bee and third-team All-Norcal in Division III.
